At Central Valley Gender Health and Wellness, we provide cultural sensitivity education & training specifically tailored to the needs of the LGBTQIA+ community, centering QTPOC (Queer and Trans People of Color). Our training program is designed to educate schools, businesses, law enforcement, correctional agencies, government agencies, medical providers, and mental health providers on how to create inclusive, supportive, and affirming spaces for QTPOC individuals. Our training covers topics such as intersectionality, the impacts of discrimination and marginalization on QTPOC individuals, and best practices for creating inclusive environments. We also provide practical strategies for improving communication and building trust with QTPOC clients and customers. Overall, our cultural sensitivity training is designed to help organizations and individuals better understand and support the unique needs and experiences of the QTPOC community.
Central Valley Gender Health and Wellness (CVGHW) is committed to supporting individuals who have been released from incarceration or detention and are reentering society. Our services are tailored to meet the specific needs of the LGBTQ+ QTPOC community.
CVGHW provides services such as mental health support, substance abuse resources, and access to healthcare services. We also work with clients to develop an individualized plan that addresses their specific reentry needs, such as finding housing and employment, accessing education and job training, and navigating the legal system.
CVGHW understands that reentry can be a challenging and isolating experience, especially for LGBTQ+ QTPOC individuals who face discrimination and stigma in many areas of society. Our goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment where clients can build the skills and resources they need to successfully reintegrate into their communities
At Central Valley Gender Health and Wellness, we believe in a harm reduction approach to health care that meets our clients where they are and supports them in making safer and healthier choices. Our harm reduction services aim to reduce the negative consequences of drug use, sex work, and other behaviors that may be stigmatized or criminalized.
We offer a variety of harm reduction supplies and resources, including naloxone (Narcan) for opioid overdose prevention, sterile injection equipment for safer drug use, and safer sex supplies such as internal and external condoms, dental dams, and lubricants. We also provide education and support for safer drug use and sex work practices, as well as referrals to other community resources.
Our harm reduction services are designed with the unique needs of the LGBTQ+ and QTPOC communities in mind, recognizing the intersecting factors of stigma, discrimination, and marginalization that impact health outcomes. We strive to create a safe, non-judgmental, and affirming environment for all of our clients.
At Central Valley Gender Health and Wellness, we have volunteer mental health clinicians and peer support specialists who offer support to individuals in our community who are struggling with mental health issues. Our mental health clinicians are licensed professionals who provide individual and group therapy, as well as referrals to other healthcare providers as needed. Our peer support specialists are individuals who have personal experience with mental health challenges and provide emotional support and guidance to our clients on their journey towards mental wellness. Our mental health services are designed to provide a safe and inclusive space where individuals can receive culturally-sensitive and gender-affirming mental healthcare. We offer a range of mental health services, including individual and group therapy, support groups, and educational workshops on mental health topics such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and self-care. All of our mental health services are free of charge and designed to help individuals in our community lead happier, healthier lives.
At Central Valley Gender Health and Wellness, we are committed to advocating for the rights and needs of the LGBTQ+ community. Our advocacy services are designed to promote social justice and equality for all individuals, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation. We work closely with local organizations and policymakers to raise awareness about issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community, including discrimination, healthcare disparities, and legal barriers to equality. We also provide advocacy services to individuals, including legal and medical advocacy, as well as assistance with navigating complex healthcare and legal systems. Our goal is to ensure that all individuals have access to the care and resources they need to live healthy, fulfilling lives, free from discrimination and prejudice. Our advocacy services are free of charge and open to anyone who needs support.
At Central Valley Gender Health & Wellness, we understand the unique challenges faced by the trans and gender diverse community, including housing insecurity. We offer a range of resources to support those who are unhoused/houseless, including hats & gloves, underwear, socks, hand warmers or cold packs, rain ponchos, solar blankets, hygiene items, COVID tests, and information about local shelters. We are committed to providing these basic necessities to help our community members stay safe and comfortable during difficult times.
CVGHW provides assistance to individuals who wish to update their name and/or gender marker on official documents such as identification cards, passports, and birth certificates. This service can be especially helpful for transgender and gender non-conforming individuals who may face legal and administrative barriers in changing their gender marker and name. CVGHW provides guidance on the legal requirements and processes involved in changing these documents and may also offer resources and support to individuals who are going through the process. Overall, a name and sex identifier service can helps navigate the often complex and confusing process of updating our legal documents to reflect our gender identity.
