Why Knowing Your HIV Status Matters

Every year, hundreds of people in California and many here in the Central Valley are newly diagnosed with HIV. Too many people don't know they're living with HIV until they become seriously ill or unknowingly pass the virus to others. Early testing saves lives, protects partners, and connects people to treatment and prevention services.

If your test is negative, you may benefit from preventive medications such as PrEP or PEP, which can dramatically reduce the risk of acquiring HIV when used correctly. New long-acting options, including injectable medications, are making prevention easier than ever, while effective treatment allows people living with HIV to live long, healthy lives and prevents sexual transmission when they achieve an undetectable viral load (U=U).

At CVGHW, we help individuals understand every prevention option available, including:

  • HIV & STI Testing
  • Rapid HIV Testing
  • PrEP Navigation
  • PEP Navigation
  • Long-acting HIV Prevention Options
  • Linkage to HIV Medical Care
  • Medication Assistance Programs
  • Safer Sex Supplies
  • Community Health Worker Support
  • Peer Navigation
  • Confidential Referrals
