Central Valley Gender Health & Wellness (CVGHW) is a community-based nonprofit in Stockton, CA. We empower the Central Valley by uplifting BIPOC and QTPOC communities while welcoming all. Our work includes HIV prevention and PrEP/PEP navigation, harm reduction outreach, peer support, youth leadership, reentry support, cultural celebrations, and community education. Together, these programs build health, resilience, and connection — creating a safer, more inclusive future for everyone.
Our Services Include:
HIV Prevention & Support – We provide free, confidential HIV and STI testing, along with prevention services such as PrEP and PEP navigation. Our team helps clients access medication quickly, stay connected to ongoing care, and receive culturally competent support every step of the way.
Harm Reduction Outreach – Our outreach team meets people where they are by providing harm reduction supplies, overdose prevention tools like naloxone, and education to reduce risk and save lives. We work to dismantle stigma around substance use while promoting health, safety, and dignity for people who use drugs.
Peer Support & Navigation – Our peer navigators bring lived experience and cultural understanding to guide participants through health, wellness, and recovery journeys. We offer one-on-one support, group engagement, and referrals to housing, mental health, and community resources, ensuring no one walks alone.
Youth Leadership Programs – We create safe and affirming spaces for LGBTQ+ and allied youth to build confidence, develop leadership skills, and find community. Programs include mentorship, youth councils, creative workshops, and opportunities to engage in advocacy and civic leadership across the Central Valley.
Reentry Services & Support – We support individuals transitioning from incarceration or housing instability with job readiness training, mentorship, peer navigation, and wraparound resources. By addressing barriers like employment, housing, and stigma, our reentry programs create pathways to stability, dignity, and long-term success.
Cultural & Community Events – CVGHW hosts large-scale and grassroots events that celebrate diversity and build connection. From Stockton Pride and Jotería nights to countywide flag raisings and community healing circles, our events uplift culture, visibility, and belonging while bringing thousands together in celebration and solidarity.
Advocacy & Education – We provide training for schools, businesses, and institutions on LGBTQ+ inclusion, equity, and cultural competency. Our advocacy work also supports systemic change by addressing health disparities, influencing local policy, and ensuring that BIPOC and QTPOC voices are heard in decision-making spaces.
Together, these programs empower individuals, strengthen families, and create safer, healthier, and more inclusive communities across the Central Valley.
